OLDHAM ROCHDALE BADMINTON LEAGUE (ORBL) PRIVACY NOTICE
Introduction
This Privacy Notice explains in detail the types of personal data we may collect about you when you interact with us. It also explains how we will store and handle that data, and keep it safe. There is a lot of information here but we want you to be fully informed about your rights, and how ORBL uses your data. We hope the following sections will answer any questions you have but if not, please do get in touch with us. It is likely that we will need to update this Privacy Notice from time to time. You are welcome to check our website whenever you wish. For ease throughout this Notice, we and us means ORBL.
What is ORBL
We are an informal non-registered or affiliated voluntary organisation, established purely for the organisation of a badminton league and associated activities and supported by individual clubs wishing to play badminton within the league.
Explaining the legal bases we rely on
The law on data protection sets out a number of different reasons for which a company may collect and process your personal data, including:
- Performance of a contract — If you are a member of the league, entered into one of our competitions or have provided information for the league website, we have to collect and process your data in order to perform our contract with you.
- Consent — In specific situations, we can collect and process your data with your consent.
- Legal compliance — If the law requires us to, we may need to collect and process your data. For example, we can pass on details of people involved in fraud or other criminal activity affecting ORBL to law enforcement.
- Legitimate interest — In specific situations, we require your data to pursue our legitimate interests in running and promoting badminton in Oldham, Rochdale and surrounding areas and which does not materially impact your rights, freedom or interests. For example, we will use your data to send you information relating to your membership of ORBL.

What sort of personal data do we collect
The names of individuals, e-mail addresses and phone numbers.
How and why do we use your personal data
We need to use the personal data on our website in order that teams can contact each other for the purpose of managing matches within the league. We also need from time to time to communicate with all clubs details of events or changes and to issue formal notifications for example the AGM.
Combining your data for personalised direct communication
ORBL will not combine personal data.
How we protect your personal data
ORBL will not share any contact details with any other organisations for any purpose unless consented to by the individuals concerned. All information provided for the website is freely provided by the individuals concerned who acknowledge it is an open website.
How long will we keep your personal data
Whenever we collect or process your personal data, we will only keep it for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
What are your rights over your personal data
You have the right to request:
- Access to the personal data we hold about you, free of charge (unless charges apply to us in fulfilling your request)
- The correction of your personal data when incorrect, out of date or incomplete
- That we stop using your personal data for direct marketing (either through specific channels, or all channels)
- We stop any consent-based processing of your personal data after you withdraw that consent
- That you be “forgotten” or have your data erased, in certain situations
- To have your data ported (that is, transmitted) directly to another organisation

Your right to withdraw consent
Whenever you have given us your consent to use your personal data, you have the right to change your mind at any time and withdraw that consent.

In cases where we are processing your personal data on the basis of our legitimate interest, you can ask us to stop for reasons connected to your individual situation. We must then do so unless we believe we have a legitimate overriding reason to continue processing your personal data.

You have the right to stop the use of your personal data for direct marketing activity through all channels, or selected channels. We must always comply with your request.
